Alex Smith is Operational Lead with the Fulfilling Lives Newcastle Gateshead programme, and is employed by the lead core partner: Changing Lives.
Alex joined Changing Lives in 2013 and before starting with Fulfilling Lives worked with the Sunderland team on the Department of Health’s Homeless Hospital Discharge programme. This programme dramatically improved the pathways for homeless people leaving hospital in Sunderland, resulting in it being re-commissioned.
Alex initially studied anthropology at the University of Aberdeen and went on to study housing/welfare benefits law with the University of Northumbria, whilst working for the Legal Aid Agency.
Alex joined the Fulfilling Lives team in April 2014 as a System Broker, leading work around one of our key system change areas: ‘transitions’. In April 2018, Alex moved into the role of Operational Lead, providing support to our team of System Change Practitioners, leading on the implementation of our Critical Time Intervention (CTI) pilot, and building key relationships both locally and nationally to support our direct client work.
