Andrew Burnip

Andrew is the chair for Fulfilling Lives Newcastle Gateshead's Operational group.

He has worked in homelessness for over 22 years, starting his career with DISC, a County Durham voluntary sector organisation in the 1990s.  Andrew joined Shelter in 2002, managing casework services across the North East, moving in 2006 to Easington District Council where he led the transformation of homeless advice and support services; leading to the Department for Communities & Local Government (DCLG) awarding the authority Regional Champions Status in 2007.  In 2009, following Local Government reorganisation Andrew led the transition of 7 former District Councils to deliver a prevention focused, innovative housing solutions service for Durham County Council.  In 2012 Andrew was seconded to DCLG as the Specialist Homelessness Advisor for the North East assisting in the development of the Gold Standard and supporting local authorities to develop and improve services; re-joining Durham County Council in 2013.

In June 2015 Andrew joined Crisis as Director of Skylight Services in Newcastle.  Andrew lives in Durham with his partner Lynsey, their children Amelia and Grace and Henry; the Bassett Hound.
