Gateshead multiple and complex needs transformation initiative
We commissioned a research project to develop our learning around the multiple and complex needs (MCN) system in Gateshead. The project was delivered as a partnership by Oasis Community Housing, Goodlabs, Helme Park, and the Collective Impact Agency and focussed on multi-agency meetings that take place between different services in Gateshead to help people in crisis due to circumstances like homelessness, mental ill health, substance misuse or offending.
The project aimed to find ways services can avoid duplication and work better together to provide better support for people when they need it most.
Over 100 people were given the opportunity to share their views and experiences through a series of 1:1 interviews and focus groups and our Experts by Experience Network worked with the partners involved in the project to make sense of the findings and identify potential changes that could be made.
As a result of the work, a series of priorities, principles and practices is being recommended to Gateshead services, all rooted in the co-production ‘nothing about us without us’ approach and centred around the importance of putting People @ the Heart of the system.
