Our Experts by Experience hold a weekly reference group every Tuesday morning at Broadacre House in Newcastle.
Our Experts By Experience reference group meetings give people with lived experience of the system(s) in Newcastle and Gateshead, or similar, a voice to direct how these need to operate and change to best help those with multiple and complex needs.
The strategy and direction of our programme is led by this peer-led co-production. We want to make it so the services in Newcastle and Gateshead work more cohesively together and aren’t challenging people with multiple and complex needs or turning them away.
At their weekly meetings, our Experts by Experience plan events in the local area, such as their Dinner Club, and attending national events through their relationship with the National Expert Citizens Group (NECG). Over the past year or so, our Experts by Experience have had the opportunity to visit Blackpool, Leeds, London and Birmingham, to name but a few, representing our programme and having their voices heard on a national level.
The Experts by Experience’s weekly meetings are also a great opportunity for peer support: the Experts provide a welcome and inviting environment and are there to make anybody who walks through the doors at Broadacre feel valued.
If you would like to get involved with the Experts by Experience group and help create sustainable system change in Newcastle and Gateshead, we would love to see you. Pop along to Broadacre House on a Tuesday morning from 10am-12pm to see if the group is for you, or get in touch for a chat beforehand to find out more.
