What is the Experts by Experience Network?

We are a group of people with lived experience of the most challenging circumstances including homelessness, mental ill health, substance misuse and offending.

The Fulfilling Lives Programme finishes in July 2022. We really want to make sure the Experts by Experience Network continues to thrive and influence the way systems and services are run in the North East. We need YOUR VOICE to make this happen, to help shape the future of the Network and ensure the voice of lived experience continues to be heard.

Get involved

You can join us at our Experts by Experience meeting at Re-co-co in Newcastle City Centre from 2pm until 4pm every Thursday. Our meeting room is on Floor One. You will be welcomed with a cuppa along with a space to talk about creating change across services in Newcastle and Gateshead. To get in touch with us, send an email to: EBEnetwork@fulfillinglives-ng.org.uk.

About us

We are Experts by Experience.

We are a group of people with lived experience of the most challenging circumstances including homelessness, mental ill health, substance misuse and offending.

We offer a positive space for people with lived experience to come together to share their experience and opinions.

We have vital things to say that can shape the future for how systems and services work in Newcastle Gateshead.

We have a voice at every level of the Fulfilling Lives programme in Newcastle and Gateshead.

The network is one way we can work together to share our expert voice.

Fulfilling Lives Newcastle Gateshead is one of 12 learning programmes across the country, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Our impact

The Experts by Experience Network has done some great work and we would love to continue doing so, with your support.  For example:

  • Changing Futures – we are involved in the planning process of this new project which aims to improve outcomes for adults experiencing multiple disadvantage.
  • Research – we are working with researchers from universities in the region on a number of projects looking at issues that affect people facing multiple disadvantage.
  • Co-Production – by this we mean that we have shared the voice of lived experience whenever services are changing or developing. We have helped with bids for new services and designed training courses for staff. We work to ensure lived experience is heard and acted upon.
  • National Expert Citizens Group (NECG) – we attend regular NECG meetings which are run by Revolving Doors where we meet with other people from Fulfilling Lives lived experience groups and share opportunities to affect systems change.
