We were delighted to take part in the first ever Multiple Disadvantage Day on Wednesday 3 July 2019 to encourage people to #seethefullpicture around multiple disadvantage and the trauma that underpins it.
Part of a national campaign that reached over 1.8million people on social media, we marked the day with a Human Library event in the Grainger Market in Newcastle city centre.
Our Experts by Experience were at the heart of the event, bringing together real life stories of multiple and complex needs and reading them aloud to members of the public to spark conversations about the nature of multiple disadvantage, highlight the trauma behind it and challenge the stigma and discrimination that surrounds it.

Co-Production Week 2019
Multiple Disadvantage Day was at the heart of this year’s Co-Production Week which highlighted how more equal partnerships with people who use services can be achieved in order to improve services.
