One of Fulfilling Lives Newcastle Gateshead’s System Brokers will be presenting to frontline workers from across the country at this year’s Homeless Link ‘Under One Roof’ conference.
Alex Smith, one of three System Brokers at FLNG, will be sharing learning on Critical Time Intervention (CTI), an innovative support model for people with multiple needs which is used predominantly in America.
Alex visited Brilliant Corners, a housing organisation is LA, in May 2017 as part of Homeless Link’s Transatlantic Exchange programme, spending two weeks learning about the CTI model. Alex is now developing a way to translate this learning onto the current support offer for people with multiple and complex needs here in the UK.
Brilliant Corners have adopted the CTI approach for interventions on high risk transitions such as prison discharge, which is a key area of focus that FLNG is learning about this year.
Alex will be presenting alongside Michael Corbishley from SHP, London, who looked at the potential to use critical time intervention across a range of client groups and in tandem with other approaches such as PIE, during his Transatlantic Exchange. Michael was hosted by CUCS, New York City, earlier this year.
Under One Roof will cover a wide range of topics that affect accommodation, support and care provision over the two-day conference (4th-5th July 2017). It will bring together supported housing and homelessness services to share innovative approaches, policy updates and insights into the future of service provision, and will feature different strands, tailored for frontline workers, managers and leaders.
